The shift of our daily routines and internal clocks being tied to the natural rhythm of our day-to-day rituals can be thrown off when we suddenly shift by an hour twice a year.
When the bulk of the economy and careers were tied to agriculture, it made sense to maximize the hours of daylight and adjust the time to account for that.
These days, when most of us are working within buildings and no longer working the land, it seems less critical and more habitual than anything.
As we shift from long hours of daylight into the darker seasons of the year, how are you feeling?
I don't know about you, but sometimes I wish they would just split the difference and get rid of daylight savings time, it just doesn't seem necessary anymore!
Do you typically feel better and full of energy more in the summer months, or as the weather shifts into the crisp, cool, cozy months?
I feel that the seasons can have such a big impact on how we are feeling. Our motivation, or zest for life and our general mindset and mood.
I know I struggle during the darker months of the year and thrive during the summer. I really dislike the feeling of being cold, the darkness surrounding life as you get up in the day and finish up your workday can be draining.
I much prefer the summer months where you can feel all of the energy surrounding you in your life, long daylight hours, the warmth of the sun cocooning you the moment you step outside just can't be beat!
