The Love of Self-Discipline

Have you viewed discipline from the perspective of self-love rather than punishment?

If we view discipline from the lens of sacrifice or deprivation it can feel like such a burden. But, what if it's not...?

The root of feeling stuck in place or feeling like we cannot accomplish all that we want to stem from a place of lack. Lack of resources, lack of skill or ability, lack of courage. But what if you loved yourself enough to follow through and take the actions necessary to move you closer to your goal one step at a time.

Surely you know at least the next 1-2 steps that you could take to move in the direction of what you want to accomplish. If not, try to focus on what those first steps may be and what it would take to accomplish only the first step on your path.

Why does it feel like punishment if you're doing what you need to reach your goals?

Simply put, we often fall into patterns of ease and complacency. Doing what we do simply because it's been what we've done for so long, we may not even enjoy doing it anymore, but we cling to it as part of our identity or comfort zone.

It can be worth reflecting to try and understand why you crave the things you do, why you feel so tied to your old habits, why you feel that taking steps toward what you desire is somehow punishing or negative in any way. What is the reason for that resistance you are feeling?
